How to Replace an audi key blade a1 key fob (This Internet site) G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is situated near the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located at the edges of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to link the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also where the camshaft lies to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper chain. The code won't show without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing is a bit challenging as there are two different connector pins, and they have different functions but the most effective method of testing it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms when it is at full operation. If you're having issues with this part, check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs. Three were drenched with gazoline the fourth one was dry. When I start the engine with no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th stay shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I got zero Ohm. I'm assuming the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is disconnected and is running fine when it is plugged in, but still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

Ford-New.pngI don't know what to do. I believe that I've eliminated everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. Let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a salvage yard or from a parts store. It is simple to test them - simply put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing up). They should be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines needs to know the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of fuel injectors, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could lead to the engine shutting down.

A failing G28 sensor could result in an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox or a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, and/or an unfire when in the gear. If you have any of these issues, it is likely your sensor is going bad and should be replaced. The good thing is that they are quite affordable and readily available, especially when you're looking at an Bosch model, which is what we have. Alternately, GM's version this part is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a myriad of issues in your vehicle. It's an essential component of the transmission of your audi replacement key since it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the audi car key replacement's engine is turning. When this sensor fails, it could affect the performance of the transmission and the rest of the replacement audi car key's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It sends an electrical signal through an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to control the flow of fuel and boost as well as timig. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see approximately 1000 ohms resistance between those points. This is the same across the audi q3 key 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC all the way up to the 1997 UrS An and 1995 RS2 DU So, you may find them in wrecking yards.
