How to Replace an replacement audi key cost uk G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is located at the edge of transmission just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can trigger spark and injectors in the right way.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate the possibility of a chain stretch or jump in the chain link of the upper chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky as there are two different connector pins and they have different functions but the best way to test it is to measure the resistance between the sensor replacement key for audi A4 and the ECU. It should read approximately 1000 ohms when the sensor is in full operation. Examine for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a significant drop in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the fourth one was dry. I put tissue over each hole in the injector and when i start the engine without sparks, the three that have gazoline pop right out. The fourth one remains shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I get 0ohm. I think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The audi a1 car key will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even if it is not plugged in, shows an ice temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not certain what to do, i believe that i've ruled out everything else. But i am afraid I may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or parts store. It is simple to test them to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's side). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B, AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that needs to know the position and speed of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, for example. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to accomplish this. If either of these go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner that can cause the engine to shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a failed G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or misfiring when you are in gear. It is probable that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you encounter any of these symptoms. The good thing is that they are very cheap and easily accessible, especially in the case of the Bosch model, which is what ours are. If you prefer, GM's version of this part is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a variety of issues within your vehicle. It's an essential component of your audi replacement key's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is spinning. When this sensor fails, it could affect the performance of the transmission, as well as the rest of the audi car keys replacement's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear and sends a signal directly to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the flow of fuel and boost and also to timigrate. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe around 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This is a standard part across the audi keyfob 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU so good ones could be available in wrecking yards.
